Défouloir au quotidien...

27 mars 2005

One week off and that supid HVAC fails at my office on the first day... 45°C in the server room and all systems have been shut down in security. Sunday PM spent at work. Why IT people cannot be left in peace for a while???

Anyway, I'm going to pass my nerves on my Mistubishi T-2 'Aggessors' kit. Rescribing lines and rivets gives me pain at my right hand after some hours. Oh, uhmm I bought two more kits derivated from that box: a T-2 regular trainer and the T-2 CCV limited edition box. More lines and more rivets in the future, not to mention the two F-1 kits derivated fr
om the same box, which makes a total of 5 kits to work on ;-)

IPMS Hoboken 2005

This was an IPMS Saturday at Hoboken 2005, near Antwerpen. I found the Hasegawa Mitsubishi F-1 1/48 box this time, and some tools for my current rescribing work on 1/72 T-2 Aggressor model.

Europa sucks... Let's break something!

Council Presidency "Adopts" Software Patent Agreement
7 March 2005 -- The Council Presidency today declared the software agreement of 18 May 2004 to have been adopted, in violation of the procedural rules and in spite of the evident lack of a qualified majority of member states and the requests of three states to reopen negotiations.
Now I'm convinced that Europe will never listen to their citizen's opinions but to the international enterprises instead. So who needs such a compicated, non-democratic and expensive institution in Belgium? Like Beavis and Butt-Head said on MTV 12 years ago: "That sucks, yeah, let's break something!!"

Geek mania hit again....

OK you may think I'm definitely a geek/otaku/whatever if you look at these pictures: IBM T00 frame, IBM 7026-H70 server IBM 7337 DLT robot and IBM 7133-D40. These toys are now in my private office, and the Debian GUN/Linux webserver you're surfing on is also in this 33U rack. For the story I needed a frame for my machines and I found one...with this inside. For other ubergeeks, config is as follows: H70 is a 2*Power64-II with 1Gb RAM and 2*8Gb SCSI disks in RAID1 running AIX 5.2ML5, 7337DLT contains two DLT IV drives and a magazine for 10 tapes, 7133 SSA enclosure also contains 10 disks of 18.4Gb/10000RPM in RAID5 config (160Gb in JFS2).
I'm also thinking of installing SLES Linux 9 for pSeries on it (break RAID1 mirror or add 2*4Gb spare IBM disks that I stil have but without the hotplug enclosure for the H-70 node...
Also I don't have any HVAC in my room so it's getting a little bit hot in there (+3°C) and it also consumes ~1200Watt at full charge (my UPS is overloaded when I start the SSA enclosure).

BTW computing is shit, so I'm thinking about having my hollidays in Ibiza this year.

Currently listening to... "Cafe Del Mar" (11CDs to patient 'till June)
